Local governments and not-for-profit organisations can now apply for up to $15, 000 for initiatives that make communities more accessible, welcoming and inclusive for people of all ages.

Announced on International Day of Older Persons, the Age-friendly Communities Connectivity Grants Program, supports projects that improve older people’s connection to their communities and promote positive ageing outcomes.

The grants will fund projects, programs, events and activities that help address ageism, aim to reduce loneliness and improve older Western Australians connection with their local communities, including increasing digital skills and confidence.

A second stream of funding is available to help local governments work towards joining the World Health Organization's Global Network for Age-friendly Cities and Communities (WHO GNAFCC) to support older people in their local communities to live healthy and active lives for as long as possible.

The grants build on Western Australia's position as a recognised leader in age-friendly communities. WA was the first jurisdiction to become an affiliate of the WHO network, which brings together cities and communities around the world committed to creating places where people can age well.

The program supports the delivery of the State Seniors Strategy 2023-2033 and encourages collaboration between local governments, community organisations and the Department of Communities to improve outcomes for older Western Australians.

Applications close on Friday 13 November 2026.
