$250,000 is available for community-driven road safety projects that initiate change at a grassroots level. Eligible organisations can apply for a grant of up to $25,000.
The Community Initiatives Grants are funded via the Road Safety Commission’s Road Trauma Trust Account, that sees 100 per cent of safety camera fines spent on projects that save lives and reduce trauma on WA roads.

Acting Road Safety Commissioner Caoimhe Finn said both metropolitan and regional-based organisations are encouraged to apply.
“We look forward to receiving submissions for a diverse range of road safety projects which will truly help drive behaviour change on our roads,” she said.
“Grassroots initiatives are at the heart of what we do and the best way to make a positive impact on local communities.”
Successful applicants in 2025/26
Regional cycling programs, a community mural reminding drivers to slow down and targeted workshops for parents and carers are among the projects awarded funding in the most recent funding round.
Of the 18 successful recipients, 13 were based in the regions and 5 in the metropolitan area.
Successful projects included:
- Shire of Gnowangerup; Ride Wild, Ride Safe - a cycling safety campaign - $25,300;
- Polish School WA; reinforcing road safety best practice in young road users - $25,300;
- Sandon WA Inc; targeted road workshops for parents and carers - $25,000; and
- Shire of Capel; using culturally diverse, community designed messaging to promote road safety in Dalyellup - $25,000.
