Homelessness Week runs nationally from 4-10 August and is an opportunity to raise awareness of people experiencing homelessness and to reflect on the collective action needed by community and all levels of government to help break the cycle.

The theme for Homelessness Week 2025 is ‘Homelessness Action Now’.

Shelter WA runs a program of events, and their focus this year is on Homelessness Prevention, concentrating on proactive measures to support people and prevent them from becoming homeless by:

  • addressing root causes such as lack of affordable housing, poverty, unemployment, family and domestic violence and mental health issues; and
  • providing early intervention and support services.

Visit the Department of Communities' Homelessness webpages for more information about how Communities is working to address homelessness.
