Victorian Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commissioner, Ro Allan

The lecture titled,  Proud? Reflections on where we are, how far we’ve come, and where we should be, will draw on both their personal experiences as a non-binary person, and their long history of LGBTIQ advocacy. It will reflect on the progress that has been made towards equality for trans and gender diverse people, and the work that is still to be done.

Specifically, Ro will provide an overview of the significant progress made in Victoria in recent years, spanning law reform, funding to community organisations, and the establishment of specialised health services. By describing what is possible, Ro will aim to challenge and inspire WA audiences to demand more be done, more quickly to similarly advance equality for trans and gender diverse West Australians.
