Department of Communities (Communities) Strategic Workforce Capability Manager Jade Beisley has made a remarkable impact through her participation in this year's Rising Leadership Program, leading a successful donation drive in support of Care Bags WA.
Inspired to make a difference through the program, Jade connected with Sarah Clancy, founder of Care Bags WA, to support the charity's important work helping children and young people entering care.
Thanks to Jade's efforts and the generosity of Communities People and Culture team, an incredible number of items were collected to help fill care bags for children and young people entering care. These bags provide essential items and a sense of comfort during what can be one of the most challenging times in a young person's life. They also support foster carers, who are often called upon at short notice to welcome a child into their home.
Reflecting on the campaign's success, Jade said the response had been incredible and reflected the kindness and generosity of Communities staff.
"The items donated help to fill Care Bags for children and young people entering care, during what is often one of the most difficult times in their lives.
"These bags will also support the incredible foster carers, who are sometimes given very little notice that a child is entering their care and needs immediate access to basics.
"I'm so grateful for everyone's generosity. Together, People and Culture has helped show some of our most vulnerable children and young people that they are valued and cared for."
Sarah established Care Bags WA after recognising the need for children entering care to have immediate access to essential items and personal belongings. Through her role at Communities and her commitment to supporting vulnerable children and young people, she continues to make a lasting difference in the lives of those entering care.
Beyond this initiative, Jade is one of our Department's senior elves and is the embodiment of our iCREATE values. In her day-to-day role, she works to strengthen organisational culture and help make Communities a great and safe place to work for everyone.
Her leadership, passion and commitment to helping others – and her collaboration with Sarah and Care Bags WA – have not only made the donation drive a success but have also positively impacted some of the most vulnerable children and young people in our community.
