Contained within the 17-storey complex are 112 self-contained apartments - 50 percent of which are reserved for people experiencing homelessness - communal areas, 24/7 on-site support services and commercial space.

East Perth Common Ground has been constructed by builder, ADCO Constructions to a high Livable Housing Design Standard.

To support the complex health needs of tenants, the 112 apartments comprise a mix of Silver, Gold and Platinum (fully accessible) standard designed homes.

Its design has been informed by consulting with people who have lived experience of homelessness, community housing providers and a range of other key stakeholders.

This $70 million build was made possible thanks to an $8 million contribution from the Commonwealth Government.

The first of two for Western Australia, the Common Ground model delivers a housing-first approach by providing a mix of permanent housing options for people who are experiencing homelessness, rough sleeping or on low incomes, along with wraparound support services and on-site management.

Mission Australia has been contracted by Department of Communities to deliver tenancy support services, with Mission Australia Housing to deliver property and tenancy management for Department of Housing and Works.

In partnership, the service providers will provide on site individualised support for people transitioning out of long-term homelessness, 24/7 concierge support and manage the general operation of the building, such as lease agreements, tenant allocations and maintenance coordination.

East Perth Common Ground’s first tenants are expected to move in early 2026.

East Perth Common Ground adds to the more than 3,800 homes added by the State Government since 2021 and delivers on a key priority of the State Government's All Paths Lead to a Home: Western Australia's 10 Year Strategy on Homelessness 2020–2030, which aims to improve outcomes for Western Australians experiencing, or at risk of homelessness.
