The women were a group of Occupational Specific Food Industry Training students at the Multicultural Services program and attended the Equal Opportunity Law information session to help them understand their rights and responsibilities as they prepared to join the workforce.
Diana said it was important this group of women knew their rights when it came to discrimination and harassment before they entered the hospitality industry.
"The hospitality industry has many small businesses which often do not have HR personnel to help employees deal with discrimination and harassment issues.
"On top of that the intersectionality of being women and ethnically diverse makes this cohort quite vulnerable to discrimination and harassment," she said.
Diana said the group was eager to learn about Australian, and particularly Western Australian anti-discrimination laws and how they applied to areas of public life in WA.
"This group was really keen to enhance their skills to prepare themselves to enter the workforce, and they found the information session beneficial for that preparation," she said.
