Work within the construction industry is highly transient with many workers employed on a project-by-project basis. These projects periods can range from a few weeks, to at best, a few years. This can give workers a sense of uncertainty and stress.

MATES offers construction workers tools to help manage and improve their mental health and in suicide prevention. This aligns with MyLeave’s purpose to provide workers with access to long service leave. Giving an opportunity to take a break from the stress of work and aid with mental health.

MyLeave administers portable long service leave for construction workers in Western Australia. This means construction workers accrue long service leave based on service to the industry - rather than service to a single employer. MyLeave encourages workforce retention and recognises industry loyalty. This supplements MATES’ goals of investing in the long-term future health of the industry.

We are looking forward to participating in this partnership to help support the wellbeing of workers in the construction industry.
