This Sunday marks the start of National Child Protection Week, which is coordinated by the National Association for Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect (NAPCAN) and champions the need for all Australian children to be protected, supported, and nurtured.

This year National Child Protection Week runs from 3-9 September and will continue to champion the message ‘Every child in every community needs a fair go’. This message is complemented by the theme ‘Where we start matters’.

Communities is planning numerous events and activities to acknowledge the week, some of which include: a book and toy drive for children in care, protective behaviours activities in local schools, morning teas in lots of District offices, a fun fair coordinated by the Fremantle District Office, and a communications and media campaign.

National Child Protection Week provides a great opportunity to highlight some important work that is currently being undertaken by Communities in the child protection space.
