From Prison Officers to Vocational Support Officers, Community Corrections Officers and Administrators, Farm Managers and Nurses, thousands of staff work tirelessly to keep the State safe and reduce reoffending.

Important landmarks around the Perth CBD will light up in blue and green, the official colours of the day, while the winners of the 2023 WA Corrective Services Awards will be featured on the Yagan Square Digital Tower.

Corrective Services Commissioner Mike Reynolds applauded his staff for their commitment to community safety and helping thousands of people find new and positive pathways.

“Working in Corrective Services isn’t always easy, but it is always challenging and rewarding.

“Each and every person in the Corrective Services team plays a pivotal role in the rehabilitative work we do, whether it’s running programs, simply acts of kindness or keeping offenders safe in custody, there are so many factors that can impact and influence a person on this journey.”

WA Corrective Services covers the largest jurisdiction in Australia managing an average of around 6,300 adults in custody, 5,700 adults in the community, 110 young people in detention and 1,200 young people in the community.

During the week, staff received awards for excellence and length of service, including eight individuals and one team recognised at the annual Corrective Services Awards.
