Employers and employees who are currently covered by the state Bakers (Metropolitan) Award, the Bakers (Country) Award and the Pastrycooks Award will all be covered under the new Baking Industry Award from 1 October 2025.
This new award is based on the current Bakers (Metropolitan) Award. The award’s provisions have been updated to better reflect contemporary arrangements, and significant changes have been made to the coverage and provisions of the award to incorporate employees currently covered by the Bakers (Country) and Pastrycooks Awards.
This award will not apply to shop assistants who are employed in a bakery, these employees are covered by the Shop and Warehouse (Wholesale and Retail Establishments) Award.
