NT Anti-Discrimination Commissioner Sally Sievers today announced a new partnership between the Equal Opportunity Commission Western Australia and the Northern Territory Anti-Discrimination Commission for anti-discrimination training in the NT.

“This l exciting program will utilise the great depth of expertise of the WA and NT Commissions coming together in partnership.

“The training is very important as it will inform people of their rights and responsibilities in regard to anti-discrimination law and equal opportunity.” said Sally Sievers

The training being offered in Darwin in February is only the beginning.

There will also be full suites of training offered right across the Territory on a regular basis in, Alice Springs, Katherine, Tennant Creek and Nhulunbuy.

This training will assist employers and employees in creating more harmonious and positive workplaces free of discrimination, harassment and bullying.

“By increasing awareness through training both individuals and organisations can avoid costly and stressful complaints often caused by unintended unlawful behaviour,” said A/Commissioner Equal Opportunity WA Allanah Lucas.

Christine Johnson, Manager of Training at the EOC WA said "Providing training is just common sense, it’s good for individuals to know their rights and responsibilities and bottom line it’s good for business.”

Both Commissions are happy to provide further information. You can contact Christine Johnson at the Equal Opportunity Commission WA in Perth on 08 9216 3942 and Sally Sievers at the Anti-Discrimination Commission in Darwin on 08 89991444 for further information.
