The Teenagers in Need of Crisis Accommodation (TINOCA) II project, now known as Djinda meaning ‘star’ in the Noongar language, will provide 15 beds across two sites for young people experiencing, or at risk of homelessness across Perth.

The project incorporates a purpose-built supported accommodation facility that will offer six beds for young people aged 15 to 19 with 24/7 support. In addition, the Department of Communities is repurposing an existing property to provide nine beds for the Transitional Accommodation Program (TAP) to support young people into more long-term accommodation.

The funding provided to Youth Futures will be used to manage the 24/7 supported accommodation facility and TAP services.

The construction of the purpose-built facility is being funded by Youth Futures, Lotterywest and other donors. The project expands on the existing TINOCA service, which Youth Futures has delivered for more than 20 years.

The construction of the new youth accommodation support services is nearing completion and is anticipated to open in the coming weeks.
