An initiative of the Heritage Council of Western Australia, the Heritage Awards honour outstanding contributions to the conservation, interpretation and promotion of heritage across the state – from adaptive reuse of historic buildings to innovative heritage tourism experiences.
This year, nominations are invited across the following categories:
- Voluntary Individual Contribution – recognising significant contributions to heritage conservation and community engagement.
- Professional Contribution – celebrating excellence, leadership and best practice within the heritage sector.
- Contribution by an Organisation – acknowledging the efforts of non-profit, public and private organisations.
- Interpretation Project –celebrates or promotes a heritage experience, helping visitors understand and appreciate a place.
- Heritage Tourism – an experience that provides access to or interpretation of a heritage place.
- Conservation or Adaptive Reuse – recognising outstanding conservation projects and adaptive reuse outcomes for both locally recognised and State Registered heritage places.
As well as showcasing best practice in cultural heritage, adaptive re-use, interpretation and heritage promotion, the awards educate the wider community about the importance of valuing and conserving our cultural and historic heritage for future generations.
