About the conference

Join us in Northam on 7–8 May 2026 for a two-day conference delving into the Avon region’s rich cultural heritage and diverse history. Under the theme ‘Our Avon: Culture, History and People’, the program will:

  • explore local heritage themes
  • showcase current projects across the sector, and
  • highlight innovative approaches to sharing Western Australian stories.

From Indigenous knowledge to agricultural traditions, and from military service and migrant histories, the Avon’s past and present will be brought to life.

The conference also features site visits to local heritage and cultural attractions, giving participants the chance to experience the region’s legacy firsthand.

At the close of day one, the Professional Historians Association will once again host a lively History Slam networking event.
