The phasing in period for NDIS Worker Screening Checks will end on 31 January 2023. This means that from 1 February 2023, it will be mandatory for those who work in risk assessed roles for registered NDIS providers to apply for, and hold, an NDIS Check clearance.

Since the launch of the NDIS Check in 2020, registered NDIS providers and eligible workers have been supported to transition into the scheme and understand and comply with their obligations under the new worker screening legislation.

The Department of Communities’ NDIS Worker Screening Unit, which administers NDIS Checks in Western Australia, carries out ongoing compliance activities to ensure responsibilities are met, and that people with disability are safeguarded from potential harm.
