Power, water and wastewater services to 141 Aboriginal communities across the State are currently provided by the Department of Communities.

The same services are provided to other Western Australians through licensed and regulated Government-owned utilities.

The Department of Communities, Horizon Power and the Water Corporation will work together to develop a plan which would see the responsibility for the delivery of power, water and wastewater services transfer to the Government’s specialist power and water utilities.

This requires detailed planning, preparation and consultation, which is underway, and final approval from the State Government.
