Registrations of Interest are now open to create up to 100 regional social homes through an expansion of the successful Supportive Landlord Model.

The State Government has committed $49 million to the project, which will result in spot purchasing or new builds to be managed by Community Housing Organisations, such as Aboriginal Controlled Community Housing Organisations in Albany/Denmark, Broome, Geraldton, Kalgoorlie and Port Hedland.

Since January 2023, the Djuripiny Mia Supportive Landlord Model has assisted complex tenancies in finding and sustaining long-term housing to provide 70 new social homes and accommodation for 110 people experiencing chronic rough sleeping throughout Perth, Peel and Bunbury.

The Regional Supportive Landlord Model aligns with the Housing First Approach, which prioritises permanent housing for vulnerable people and then focuses on providing the necessary support services.

Under the new model, Community Housing Organisations will contribute to the planning of acquiring suitable properties and provide ongoing property and tenancy management.

The model is part of the State Government’s commitment to improving homelessness services through the effective implementation of the All Paths Lead to Home: Western Australia’s 10-Year Strategy on Homelessness 2020-2030.

More information and registrations for Community Housing Organisations are available via the Tenders WA website. Submissions close at 2.30pm on Wednesday 3 January 2024.
