Saturday, April 4 2020 marks the transition of Melaleuca Women’s Prison into public sector management.

This week Officers at Melaleuca undertook their legal commitment as prison officers and servants of the State by swearing an Oath of Engagement.

These men and women have previously worked at the prison under a private contract. The Oath of Engagement is a formal ceremony that acknowledges the responsibilities that come with the important role of working in WA prisons. Commissioner Tony Hassall administered the Oath of Engagement to formalise the start of their careers as prison officers in WA.
