The Department was excited that this year was the first time that the conference was co-hosted by the Heritage Council of WA, the Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Committee alongside the Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage.

Attendees, both in person and online, came together from across the sector to hear local, interstate and international speakers discuss cultural heritage in its many forms. Topics covered included material conservation, Aboriginal cultural heritage, built heritage places, the impacts of climate, conservation and adaptive reuse, interpretation and using technology to explore and reveal heritage stories.

The conference's theme The Heritage Ecosystem highlighted the various disciplines that impact heritage and how practitioners can retain heritage and history for the future. Many presentations emphasised the multi-disciplinary and collaborative approaches required to achieve great outcomes for WA's cultural heritage.

For those who missed the conference or wish to watch any of the presentations - recorded presentations are available on the Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage's YouTube channel via the conference website (Please note some presentations were not recorded, at the request of the presenters).
