It's a chance to say "thank you" for the enormous contribution foster carers make in the lives of children in their care, and wider community.

In Western Australia, there are currently more than 5,100 children who receive love and support in safe homes through foster caring. Close to 2,000 households provide this care for children and young people of all ages, from birth to until 18 years old.

Communities' offices across WA will mark the week with local celebrations and activities to recognise and show appreciation to local carers in their area.

Events include morning teas, information stalls, and other activities to involve children in thanking their foster carers.

These events are also a chance for Department of Communities staff, foster carers and other support agencies to connect and strengthen local networks and relationships.
