The WA Government has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring every Western Australian has a home as Homelessness Week begins today and runs nationally from 3–9 August 2026.
Aligned to this year’s theme, ‘Strong Workforce, Stronger Communities’, the State Government continues to invest in the community services sector to ensure that people experiencing or at risk of homelessness receive sustainable and person-centred supports.
Recent investment that reflects this include the 112-unit Common Ground in East Perth which saw its first tenants move in earlier this year, as well as the 50-unit Mandurah Common Ground now under construction.
These initiatives (administered by Department of Communities), along with the funding of more than 130 services delivering critical homelessness supports across the State, complement the State Government’s record $10.8 billion committed to deliver housing and homelessness related initiatives since 2021, which has delivered more than 3,100 additional social homes.
A total of $103.7 million investment in housing support and homelessness initiatives was made in the 2026-27 State Budget.
