Priscilla - affectionately known as “Chilli”, is warmly recognised as she embarks on a new chapter with the Department of Premier and Cabinet, Aboriginal Engagement Team.

Chilli has had a remarkable 17 years of service with the Department of Communities, spanning both the Kimberley and Perth. Renowned for her wisdom, integrity, and deep cultural insight, Chilli has been a tireless advocate for improving Aboriginal outcomes, both on the front line and as part of Aboriginal Outcomes and the Specialist Child Protection Unit.

Successfully recruited from Housing in Halls Creek in 2009, Chilli quickly progressed from a senior role to Team Manager, and later to Aboriginal Practice Leader, where she relocated to Kununurra and continued to make a profound impact. Her commitment to her home town of Halls Creek was especially evident in her leadership of the Halls Creek Workforce Development Project, where she drew on her intimate knowledge of community strengths and challenges to design a culturally grounded workforce support model.

Aboriginal Outcomes was fortunate to have Chilli as part of the divisional team, and in that time came to know and appreciate her many strengths. The work the division leads can often be heavy and emotionally taxing, yet Chilli consistently brought humour and positivity to even the most sensitive and challenging conversations. She was a generous friend and mentor to younger Aboriginal staff across Communities, always willing to lend her support and guidance. A true team player, Chilli also contributed her leadership as co-chair of the Whadjuk Aboriginal Employee Network (AEN) over a 12-month term.

Chilli’s warm and gentle nature, along with her cultural wisdom, was especially valued within the Specialist Child Protection Unit, where Chilli brought a cultural lens, regional perspective, a smile and good humour to her work each day.

A devoted mother of five and now a proud grandmother, Chilli has balanced her professional achievements with an unwavering dedication to her family. Her legacy is one of compassion, strength, and enduring positive influence on colleagues, communities, and the many lives she has supported.

As she embarks on her next chapter, we wish her every success - she will be greatly missed, and all who know her will continue to cheer her on from afar.
