The expo had over 260 attendees and 27 exhibitors, gathering industry, innovation leaders and key water stakeholders together to share knowledge and experience on sustainable waterwise practices. The day included presentations, a waterwise panel session, training sessions, a tour of the key irrigation features at the Vines golf course, and time to explore the trade show.

Michael Hammond and Joshua Tjioe from our Water Allocation Planning branch hosted a department booth at the expo, showcasing the Kep Katitjin – Gabi Kaadadjan Waterwise Action Plan 3 and the work being undertaken to sustainably manage Perth’s groundwater resources through the implementation of the 2022 Gnangara Groundwater Allocation Plan.

Dan Ferguson from the Water Supply Planning branch took part in the waterwise panel session with Damien Postma from the Water Corporation and Andrew Ogden from Western Irrigation, discussing sustainable water management, the future of irrigation in Western Australia and practical solutions for improving water efficiency across both urban and agricultural sectors.

Reflecting on the event, Michael Hammond shared:
“It was great to be part of the day and to spend time discussing how we can all continue to work together to become more waterwise and to improve irrigation efficiency as part of transitioning Boorloo (Perth) and Bindjareb (Peel) to leading waterwise communities by 2030.”
