Young people across Western Australia are invited to play a leading role in shaping Youth Week WA 2027, with applications now open for Youth Week WA ambassadors and submissions welcomed for the event’s theme and branding.
Youth Week WA is the State’s largest annual celebration of young people aged 10 to 25. In 2027, it will run from 16 to 23 April, and feature free events and activities held across Western Australia.
Young people aged 18 to 25 can apply to become Youth Week WA ambassadors. Ambassadors represent the voices of young people in their communities and contribute to the planning and delivery of Youth Week initiatives.
Working closely with government, Ambassadors attend events and support engagement activities across the State. The program also provides opportunities to build leadership, communication and professional skills, including engagement with the WA Minister for Youth.
Twenty-four-year-old Alessia Maio who was a Youth Week WA ambassador in 2026 reflects on her experience.
“I put my hand up to become a Youth Week ambassador to encourage and represent young people who may not feel confident voicing their opinions.
“I also wanted to push myself out of my comfort zone and grow as a leader while supporting and empowering others,” Alessia said.
Similarly, 25-year-old Youth Week WA 2026 ambassador, Maeson Harvey said they wanted to be an ambassador to represent the youth voice.
“I wanted to make sure young people feel their stories and perspectives matter. As a young person, you have the right to participate in making decisions that affect your life and the world around you, no matter how old you are, who you are, or where you come from.”
Young people aged 10 to 25 are also encouraged to contribute to the development of the Youth Week WA 2027 theme and branding.
The selected theme will guide events, campaigns and promotions across the State. It will be featured in schools, community programs and digital platforms, providing significant visibility for the successful entrant.
Last year’s winning theme, Strength in our Stories, was submitted by Jesryl Santos. It highlighted the value of young people’s diverse experiences and backgrounds, and how these shape their ability to navigate challenges, drive social change and strengthen their communities.
Participants can also vote for their preferred branding concept, with the winning design becoming the official look of Youth Week WA 2027.
The theme and branding initiative ensures Youth Week WA reflects the priorities, experiences and perspectives of young people.
The winner of the theme competition will receive a brand-new iPad (A16).
Submissions and voting open on 6 July and close on 3 August 2026.
