Heritage Grants Recipients 2025-26

Annual Heritage Grants Program funds 39 conservation and interpretation projects
Last updated:

Congratulations to all successful applicants under the 2025-26 Heritage Grants Program.

This year, the Program awarded $1.221 million to 39 projects through two funding streams – the State Heritage Grants and the Community Heritage Grants.

Under the State Heritage Grants stream, 31 owners of heritage places will receive support to undertake urgent conservation works and prepare guiding documents such as Conservation Management Plans for places on the State Register of Heritage Places.

The Bunbury Women’s Club (former Anglican Rectory) built in 1853 and redesigned in 1910 by prominent architect Eustace Gresley Cohen, will receive $55,000 to repair damp issues in the Cinderella Room. Home to the club since the 1950s, the building continues to provide an important community space that supports senior and single women, promoting social connection, emotional well-being and mental health for members who may otherwise experience isolation.

In Perth, the West Australian Rowing Club has been awarded $31,728.00 to complete exterior painting and weatherproofing. The 120-year-old clubhouse is a rare, fully wooden structure built over the water. Home to the first rowing club established in Western Australia, the boatshed is the only surviving building on the Perth foreshore from the early 1900s when river activities were a focus for the business, recreational and social life of the city.

In Fremantle, the Chamber of Commerce Building will receive $50,000 for critical reroofing and structural works, including replacement of the terracotta roof tiles. These works will protect the building’s heritage fabric and support its continued use as a significant civic and business hub.

Under the Community Heritage Grants stream, the Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale has been awarded $18,205.92 to develop QR code-based interpretive signage at 10 heritage-listed sites across the district. Each weatherproof sign will link to a mobile-friendly webpage featuring historical narratives, photographs, oral histories and archival material – encouraging residents and visitors to engage more deeply with the region's heritage and highlighting the value of preserving these places.

Since its inception in 1997, the Heritage Grants Program has provided more than $27 million to nearly 930 heritage projects, helping to conserve and celebrate Western Australia’s rich history.
