Key findings from non-residential embedded network customer responses

Results from an online survey conducted by Energy Policy WA from 7 November to 19 December 2022.
Last updated:

Sample size: 36 non-residential customers, all tenants, including 20 in large shopping centre and 6 in small (neighbourhood) shopping centre. Also includes 5 large-use customers (use more than 160 MWh of electricity per year).  Survey questions were not mandatory and so sample size is smaller for some questions. Due to limited sample sizes, quantitative results are presented in counts and should be interpreted with caution.

Most non-residential customers report a very negative embedded network experience
Negative experiences stem from excessive pricing
Inability to access alternative tariffs, limited negotiation power and no access to contestable market, benifits not shared (including solar)
Concerns also raised about lack of information and transparency
