Demolition licensing

Applications for a new demolition licence, renewal of an existing demolition licence or to change a nominated supervisor (Class 1 and Class 2).

Applications for demolition licensing

There are two types of demolition licence (Class 1 and Class 2). Each licence is valid for a period of three years and is endorsed with a number of conditions and legislation that relate to the way demolition work is carried out in Western Australia.

Notification of work

The WorkSafe Commissioner must be notified at least 5 working days before any Class 1 or Class 2 demolition work is intended to begin.

A copy of the notification form must be kept at the demolition site whilst the work is being done. A copy of Australian Standard AS 2601 The demolition of structures and a copy of the workplan required by the Regulations must also be kept at the site. 

To get a WA registration

  • The nominated supervisor must have an appropriate qualification or equivalent
  • The nominated supervisor must have appropriate experience
  • Must pay an application fee

If you do not provide the requested information, LGIRS may be unable to process your application or provide the relevant licence or service.

Your information may be included in an online licence search, published in a register, or disclosed where authorised or required by law. This may include to other government agencies, regulatory bodies, medical or technical experts, employers, trainers, and other third parties.
