The WA Government will provide a weekly fuel update to keep the public informed on the state’s fuel security.
These updates will outline some of the actions the Government is taking to manage supply chain issues caused by the global fuel shock.
Please note that weekly updates were paused on 10 and 17 July.

Summary of current fuel situation as at 7 August 2026
What was achieved this week:
- A total of 2,405 fuel station inspections have been undertaken since the start of our inspection blitz in early March, resulting in 111 infringements issued.
- The Consumer Protection Commissioner continues to monitor pricing to ensure transparency for WA fuel users.
- Fuel supplies are stable for August and September, and fuel station stockouts remain low across the State.
- While supply is currently stable, the Fuel Industry Operations Group continues to meet and the Government is ready to act should circumstances change.
- Announced support for our vital freight industry by extending the larger road train trial and increased mass allowance for critical goods like fuel and fertiliser.
- We've amended regulations so petrol importers have greater flexibility to get fuel into WA during the current period of uncertainty.
- We're taking the first steps towards building a new fuel refinery in Western Australia.
- To date, over 930,000 Western Australians have successfully claimed the WA fuel support payment. More information at wa.gov.au/FuelPayment.
