Current fuel supply status in WA
- Australia’s fuel stock position is currently secure, with more than 30 days in reserves and shipments continuing to arrive. Western Australians are encouraged to only buy the fuel they need.
- All states and territories, including WA, remain at Level 2 on the National Fuel Security Plan, which allows the WA Government to gather timely data and information from the industry.
Price and cost of living relief

- The Australian Government has extended the fuel excise relief for the month of July, making petrol and diesel 16 cents per litre cheaper versus normal prices.
- The WA Government will cover increased fuel costs under the Regional Airfare Zone Cap scheme, keeping airfares capped for regional Western Australians travelling to Perth.

- A support package including funding for major food relief providers and a statewide grants pool is available to offset service delivery costs and ensure essential food reaches vulnerable communities across WA.

Industry measures and support
- The WA Government has issued orders to the fuel industry to share information on their fuel supply chains, using emergency powers under Section 43 of the Fuel, Energy and Power Resources Act, effective from 2 April 2026.
- FuelWatch has now expanded to include every fuel retailer across WA (adding over 210 extra retailers), with increased fines for retailers charging incorrect prices. Reporting of fuel outages is also mandatory.
