Guidance
Chapter 18 of the River restoration manual
Last updated:

The River restoration manual is a series of guidelines on the nature, rehabilitation and long-term management of waterways in Western Australia. The chapters of the series collectively form the manual.

This chapter provides information about stream erosion. It touches on the connection between the power of flowing water, its natural tendency to follow a winding path, and some of the specific erosion features we see along our rivers.

The chapter is divided into four sections: bed erosion, bank erosion, floodplain erosion and, finally, a section explaining the characteristics of bends in streams and how erosion plays a natural part in their development.
