Youth Week WA celebrates the positive contributions of young people within our community. Youth Week WA Grants provide the community with an opportunity to organise events that:

  • support young people to express ideas, discuss important community issues and co-design local events.
  • profile the role of young people in the community.
  • showcase the talents and creativity of young people.
  • provide opportunities for young people to develop entrepreneurship skills through the sale of their own products (including food, art, fashion and eco-friendly sustainable items).
  • provide opportunities for organisations to fundraise, providing any money raised is used to fund other events, activities and initiatives that benefit young people; and
  • encourage young people to engage with other community sectors including carers and volunteers, etc.

What previous recipients have to say

Youth Futures Inc.

“The funding allowed us to resource the event fully, giving young people the opportunity to cook and share dishes connected to their cultural heritage and family history. For many of our young people, who attend the centre after school on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, cooking is already a central part of how they connect with each other and with the space. The grant allowed us to build on that foundation and create something truly celebratory for Youth Week.”

City of Bunbury

“The grant funding received from the Department of Communities added incredible value to this Youth Week event and was put straight back into our community through vouchers to be used at three local food trucks. This was very well received by community and vendors alike, with one third of attendees receiving a food voucher to subsidise the cost of their dinner.”

Shire of Katanning

“The funding we received was transformational, turning what would have been a small-scale idea into a vibrant, inclusive community event that brought hundreds of people together. Without this support, our Colour Run simply would not have been possible in the way it was delivered. The funding allowed us to remove all financial barriers, ensuring the event was completely free for everyone to attend.”

Spectrum Space

“The funding enabled Spectrum Space to secure an appropriate space, provide engaging and sensory-considerate activities, and ensure there were enough trained staff and mentors available to guide, encourage, and support every participant. Their involvement made a difference as the kids were comfortable, engaged, and genuinely having fun. It was clear that the team involved helped make the event smoother, more structured, and more accessible for young people who might otherwise feel overwhelmed or excluded.”

Avon Valley Arts Society

“A key focus of the project was reducing financial barriers that can prevent young people from participating in exhibitions. Funding [from the Department of Communities] allowed the organisation to purchase low-cost canvases, frames and hanging materials that still presented professionally within a gallery setting. These resources were made available to participants to help support exhibition readiness while also providing practical knowledge about affordable framing and presentation options for future exhibition opportunities.”
