Youth Week WA celebrates the positive contributions of young people within our community. Youth Week WA Grants provide the community with an opportunity to organise events that:

  • raise issues, ideas and concerns of young people and explore possible solutions
  • profile the role of young people in the community
  • showcase the talents and creativity of young people
  • encourage young people to engage with other community sectors including seniors, carers, volunteers etc.

After meeting the criteria of the Grants Program, the Department of Communities may prioritise applications to:

  • ensure funding is allocated evenly across Western Australia, based on geographic location
  • ensure a range of projects across Western Australia are supported
  • fund innovative approaches to achieve the program’s priority areas
  • support projects that are delivered in collaboration with other organisations; and
  • to support organisations who have not recently been funded under this program.

Youth Week WA Grants Program recipients

What previous recipients have to say

City of Wanneroo

“The grant enabled us to provide a diverse range of free activities – including sports, arts, food, and entertainment – tailored by young people to reflect their interests and needs. Importantly, the funding also supported the facilitation of youth-led planning sessions, where participants were empowered to design and implement events that addressed gaps they identified in their communities.”

Yaandina Community Services

“The funding had a very positive impact on the program we could deliver. The fact that we live in a remote area makes it more difficult and expensive to bring in skilled people and artists to run workshops with the local children.”

Joondalup Family Centre

“The funding we received played a crucial role in bringing the Youth Week Pop-Up Market to life. It allowed us to create an event that genuinely celebrated young people’s talents, ideas and entrepreneurial spirit, while providing them with real-world experience in a supportive and inclusive environment.”

Shire of Dardanup

“With funding support from the Department of Communities, the Shire of Dardanup Youth Advisory Group successfully celebrated the valuable contributions of young people, engaging over 650 participants at their annual event – YouthFest. Staying true to the mission of creating an event led by young people, for young people, YouthFest 2025 reached new levels of engagement, achieving collaboration across nearly 30 organisations, local businesses, and community members.”

Multicultural Services Centre of WA

“The funding from the Department of Communities was instrumental in the success of our Youth Week event, enabling us to create an inclusive and engaging environment for all participants. This support allowed us to provide resources such as halal and vegan food options, inclusive activity materials, and essential infrastructure.”
