The role of a Child Safety Officer
Child Safety Officers are located in regional offices only and can be appointed without having a relevant qualification.
Child Safety Officers have a similar role to play as Child Safety Practitioners, as they are responsible for engaging, building and maintaining relationships with families and their children and communities while acknowledging the existing and inherent strengths that are already present.
Although they do not have tertiary qualifications, Child Safety Officers play an important role in providing ongoing support, commitment and assistance to children and young people in care who live in WA’s regional communities.
They assist children and young people in the Department’s care to identify their strengths and build their capacity.
