2025–2026 Sponsorship Program

The Department of Communities Sponsorship Program 2025–2026 (Round 1) has now closed

All applicants should have received notification of the outcome of their application.

The round was highly competitive with a large number of strong applications received.

Given the unprecedented interest during Round 1, we will no longer proceed with the minor (Round 2) scheduled for early 2026.

Updates regarding a 2026–2027 sponsorship round will be announced in early 2026.

We understand how important funding is to the success of a project, so if your application was not successful on this occasion, there are alternative funding sources you may wish to explore.

Communities grants program is open and is regularly updated with new grant opportunities.

Externally, the below avenues may also be of interest to your organisation:

There are also a range of non-government avenues for financial support, including Philanthropy Australia, which provides a range of resources from Australian philanthropic trusts and organisations.

About the Sponsorship Program

Our sponsorship program provides funding for eligible organisations to deliver initiatives that are aligned with our strategic outcomes and represent value to the Western Australian Government, and wider community.

Successful applicants

Successful applicants will be issued with a sponsorship agreement, which requires the signatures of duly authorised persons from both parties.

A purchase order (PO) will be raised for the sponsorship, with an invoice referencing the PO number to be provided by the organisation to the Department for payment.

An acquittal report including certified statement of income and expenditure must be submitted upon project completion, and reporting requirements will be specified once the sponsorship agreement is approved.

Online applications

SmartyGrants

Our sponsorship program is hosted on SmartyGrants – a user-friendly, online grant and sponsorship application system that makes applying for funding easier and more efficient.

The Department of Communities has introduced this new online application system to improve accessibility, transparency, and efficiency across our grant and sponsorship programs.

Check this site regularly for updates, program announcements and key dates.
