Eligible organisations across Western Australia are invited to apply for funding through the new Thriving Kids Family and Children Support Program (Grants Program).
The Grants Program will provide funding to community organisations across Western Australia to deliver supports that build on family strengths, increase community connections and improve access to high-quality, culturally safe early childhood intervention.
Grant funding may support time-limited initiatives for children aged 8 and under with developmental concerns, delay or autism and their families through:
- building family capability and confidence
- strengthening peer and community connections
- improving access to early supports in community settings
- providing culturally safe supports, including services delivered by Aboriginal-led organisations for Aboriginal children and families.
One-off grant funding of between $250,000 and $2 million is available for eligible organisations to establish new services or expand existing community-based services. Funded initiatives will strengthen support for children and families across Western Australia and are intended to be delivered in the places where children live, learn and play, making them more accessible and relevant to everyday life.
Services or programs may be delivered either state-wide, across multiple regions, or specifically place-based to complement existing services to help deliver more coordinated and integrated interventions that respond to local needs.
These grants are not for individual therapeutic responses.
Funded initiatives must align with the Thriving Kids Service Principles established through the National Agreement on Foundational Supports and align to one or more of the following service types:
- workshop and information sessions for parents and carers and kin
- peer or group supports for parents, carers and kin
- group sessions for younger children (0-4 years)
- group sessions for older children (5-8 years)
- individual family support and capacity building.
Applicants are also encouraged to design and deliver services in alignment with early childhood intervention best practice, as set out in the National Best Practice Framework for Early Childhood Intervention.
