Western Australian Council of Social Service (WACOSS) is partnering with Council of Aboriginal Services Western Australia (CASWA) to build organisational capacity for child safe organisations and support the development Aboriginal-led culturally safe approaches to child safety that reflect community values and strengths.

The Child Safe Project builds on previous work to support small and medium-sized service providers across Western Australia in implementing the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations.

The Project aims to support all WA child safe organisations to strengthen their commitment in keeping children safe through the practical implementation of the National Principles, including drawing on existing child safe resources.

As part of this joint effort, CASWA is leading a culturally grounded approach to support Aboriginal Community-Controlled Organisations (ACCOs) in applying the National Principles in ways that are culturally safe and sustainable. The Project also recognises the importance of embedding cultural safety across all WA organisations, not limited to ACCOs.
