About
DEED assesses compliance with the Policy based on annual domestic gas reports submitted by the LNG exporters. The provision of these reports is a requirement under the various agreements that the LNG exporters are a party to with the WA Government.
LNG exporters are required to report individually and on a confidential basis to DEED by 31 March each year. Each report covers the preceding calendar year and includes information on:
- LNG exports and contracting
- Domestic gas supply and contracting
- Reserves
- Domestic gas infrastructure
- Marketing in good faith practices.
DEED does not receive reporting on prices or contract terms executed between market participants.
Further information on the content of these reports can be found here.
This annual compliance process allows DEED to:
- Assess compliance against the domestic gas commitments at a project and company level;
- Anticipate and assess the risk of default against the commitments; and
- Update the market on the delivery of the commitments and anticipated supply for the market.
DEED provides its annual compliance assessment to the Minister for State Development in Q3 each year, with the Minister then writing to each LNG exporter in response to their annual domestic gas reports. DEED then updates the market on compliance with the Policy through publication of the annual WA Domestic Gas Statement and presenting at AEMO's WA Gas Consultative Forums.
