Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation - Industry development

We build the capability, capacity and competitiveness of Western Australian businesses by working collaboratively with other government agencies and the private sector.
Last updated:

We drive industry development projects of significance to the State to grow and diversify the economy, and play an important role in delivering some of the government's key initiatives as part of the $5.5 billion WA Recovery Plan.

We also support industry, particularly small and medium sized businesses, through the implementation of policies and processes to increase jobs, local content, and apprentice and traineeship opportunities in Western Australia. For example, our WA Industry Link initiative connects local businesses to government contracts, creating more jobs for Western Australians. It also helps small and medium sized businesses get a bigger share of State Government procurement, which is worth around $30 billion a year.

In addition, we promote and facilitate an environment which supports the development and emergence of competitive businesses and industries, including access to funding through the Local Capability Fund.
