The Premier's Science Awards continues to recognise outstanding research and engagement taking place in Western Australia's science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) sector.
In its 23rd year, the program displayed significant growth, which included the addition of 3 new award categories. 2 new categories recognising distinguished STEM education across school and tertiary institutions, and a third category inviting the WA community to vote for their favourite finalist. The finalist with the most votes was awarded the People's Choice Award at the 2024 Premier's Science Awards ceremony.
From 34 Western Australians finalists, 11 were named winners across 9 award categories. Each award recipient took shares from a total prize pool of $120,000, including $50,000 for the Scientist of the Year.
Happening alongside the Premier's Science Awards was the Western Australian Science Hall of Fame which celebrates members of the STEM community who have delivered important work in their field of expertise. This year, 2 inductees were welcomed into the WA Science Hall of Fame for their significant contributions to the State.
We congratulate this year's Premier's Science Awards winners and the new WA Science Hall of Fame inductees, celebrating their achievements as leaders of STEM in WA.
