2025-2026 Small Grants round

The Department of Justice, through the Kimberley Juvenile Justice Strategy (KJJS), invites applications from Kimberley-based Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations for small grants of up to $45,000 (ex-GST).

Refer to the KJJS Small Grants 2025-2026 Guidelines (PDF, 210KB) for eligible projects and further guidance. Applications close Midnight (AWST) 14 December 2025.

Applications are to be submitted on the Smartygrants online platform.

Led by the Department of Justice, the Kimberley Juvenile Justice Strategy (KJJS) supports a range of community-led place-based initiatives across the Kimberley to engage Aboriginal young people in culturally safe activities to steer them away from the criminal justice system.

The KJJS is a key component of the Government’s response to the National Agreement on Closing the Gap and strongly advocates for Aboriginal-led solutions by way of authentic partnership, directly influencing all priority reform areas and justice-intersecting targets.

The KJJS has received funding over five State Budgets, totalling $40 million from July 2019 to 30 June 2026. The KJJS funds a wide range of initiatives across the Kimberley, most of which are delivered by Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations (ACCO). Each initiative is unique, meeting the specific needs of the local community and attempting to address some of the underlying issues in the region, such as youth offending, boredom, community safety, social and emotional well-being and connectedness to community and culture.
