Scott’s perspective is unique, because he's been where they are.
"I became a Youth Justice Officer because I was once on the other side. I found myself in contact with the youth justice system and had officers help me,” he said.
“Now, I get to be that person for others."
Scott's passion is helping young people turn their lives around.
He works to address the causes that brought them into the system, offering guidance and support to help them find a new path.
By connecting them with resources for employment, substance abuse support, and more, his goal is to help them rediscover their self-worth and become valued members of society.
For Scott, success isn't just about a job, it's about changing someone’s life.
"We consider it a win when we don't see a young person again because it means we've successfully diverted them from the justice system."
The work can be challenging, but Scott finds it fulfilling.
"I love what I do. It’s fantastic and rewarding to see them making positive changes in their lives.
“I wake up every morning wanting to go to work because I know that every opportunity can help someone make a step in the right direction."
