Medium term population forecasts.
Last updated:

WA Tomorrow 12

WA Tomorrow 12 is the latest set of medium-term population forecasts, by age and sex, for Western Australia to 2036. The forecasts represent the best estimate of the future population size if trends in fertility, mortality and migration continue. These forecasts supersede WA Tomorrow Population Report No.11 state population forecast published in 2018-19.

The WA Tomorrow 12 population forecasts are used across State Government agencies for budgeting targets and for planning future service and infrastructure requirements where population change and the age and/or sex distribution needs to be considered.

WA Tomorrow No. 12 has been released in two stages:

  1. Stage 1: WA Tomorrow 12 Medium-Term State Population Forecasts by age and sex for 2022 to 2036.
  2. Stage 2: WA Tomorrow 12 Medium-Term Sub-State Population Forecasts by age and sex for 2022 to 2036 for Statistical Area Level 2 (SA2) and Local Government Area (LGA).
