Modernising Government Services through Stronger Collaboration

Digital Strategy for the Western Australian Government 2026-2030.

Minister's foreword

Western Australia is a vast and diverse State. Our digital future reflects this diversity. From the Kimberley to the Great Southern, people expect government services that are simple, secure and available wherever they live and work. This Digital Strategy shows how we will continue to harness technology to overcome distance, improve access, and deliver better outcomes for our community. As we advance our digital ambitions, we remain committed to being digital first but not digital only, ensuring services are accessible to everyone.

Technology is reshaping how governments operate across the world, and Western Australia is no exception. We have built strong digital foundations over the past decade, and we are now preparing for what comes next: more connected services, more consistent digital experiences, and better use of information to guide the decisions we make. As we look to the future, we are focused on strengthening the shared platforms that support service delivery, improving how agencies work together, and investing in the tools and skills our workforce needs to meet rising expectations. This includes taking up new technologies in a safe and responsible way, improving how information moves across government, and keeping our systems secure and resilient.

Collaboration remains at the centre of this work. When agencies come together, we can deliver services that feel joined up and that respond to the moments that matter for people, communities and businesses. By bringing together our expertise, resources and digital capability, we build a public sector that can adapt quickly, innovate with confidence and deliver greater public value.

Our direction is clear, and it has shaped this Strategy. We want services that feel seamless, regardless of the agency behind them. We want a digitally confident public sector that can respond quickly in times of need. We want a community where everyone - people, businesses and regional communities - can all participate fully in a digital society. Above all, we must uphold the trust the community places in us by ensuring information is managed safely, transparently and ethically.

Western Australia’s strengths - our creativity, our resourcefulness and our strong community connections - continue to guide this work. I invite you to read the Strategy and join us as we build a more connected, inclusive and innovative digital future for our State.
