Information Technology
The Information and Technology (I&T) unit provides core ICT services and support to the Department, Premier and Cabinet, Parliamentary Electorate Officers, and client agencies.
The unit delivers secure, reliable, and contemporary technology services that support the Department’s operational and strategic requirements including:
- End‑user support and device management
- Network, infrastructure, and cloud services
- Cyber security operations and vulnerability management
- Application support and lifecycle management
- ICT governance and compliance
- Strategic technology planning and delivery of digital initiatives
The unit plays a key role in supporting the Department’s digital uplift, ensuring technology environments remain secure, resilient, and aligned to whole‑of‑government policy and standards.
Office of the General Counsel
The Office of the General Counsel delivers strategic advice to Government through its Legal and Information Release teams.
The Legal team provides legal advice on a range of matters affecting the Department and Ministers. This includes providing legal expertise and developing strategic solutions to legislative and legal policy issues and ensuring compliance with statutory and constitutional requirements.
The Information Release team coordinates and provides advice on the release of information by the Department and Ministers. This includes facilitating the provision of information under Freedom of Information laws and responding to requests from legal and regulatory bodies to produce documents and other information.
External Engagement and Events
The External Engagement and Events team deliver high‑profile events and ceremonial occasions for the Premier, manages official foreign visits to Western Australia, and leads civics education through the Constitutional Centre of WA. It also provides executive support services to the Premier, Ministers, Members of Parliament and their staff to enable effective engagement and representation.

Agency Improvement
The Agency Improvement team drives organisational excellence by identifying, analysing, and implementing improvements across agency operations and processes. These improvements aim to strengthen capability, enhance productivity, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
Governance and Strategy
The Governance and Strategy Branch’s core purpose is to manage the Department's governance and risk exposure, including but not limited to the:
- Oversight of the DPC’s Governance Framework and KPIs
- Development and maintenance of risk registers
- Coordination of internal audits
- Oversight of business continuity plans
- Management of Premier's Circulars
- Consideration of integrity matters
- Coordination of the Annual Report, Strategic and Corporate Planning.
Bicentenary
In 2029, Western Australia will commemorate 200 years since European settlement and the founding of the Swan River Colony, while also acknowledging over 60,000 years of ongoing Aboriginal culture. The Bicentenary Project Team will lead and coordinate across government, Aboriginal communities, local governments, cultural sectors, and other groups to ensure an inclusive and culturally sensitive state-wide program.
