Changes to WA awards

Updates to award coverage and provisions in private sector WA awards made by the Western Australian Industrial Relations Commission.

WA awards are being updated, and the coverage of awards expanded, as part of a process being undertaken by the Western Australian Industrial Relations Commission to review various private sector WA awards.

Changes to awards for metal and manufacturing businesses

The Manufacturing, Maintenance and Metal Trades Award commenced on
23 October 2025.

Changes to awards for bakers and pastrycooks

The Baking Industry Award commenced on 1 October 2025.

Changes to the Restaurant, Tearoom and Catering Workers Award

Changes to the provisions and name of the award commenced on 31 July 2025.

Increase in casual pay rates for many WA awards

The award casual loading for over 100 WA awards increased to 25% on 26 April 2025.

Changes to the building trades awards

Updates to the Building Trades Award and the Building Trades (Construction) Award in December 2024.

Changes to the Hairdressers Award

On 1 January 2025, the award was updated, renamed and extended to cover the beauty industry.

Changes to the Shop and Warehouse Award

Updates to award provisions in June 2024 and the award’s coverage in October 2024.

Changes to the Transport Workers (General) Award

Updates to award coverage in October 2024.

Changes to the coverage of the clerks awards

The coverage of three key clerical awards was expanded in December 2023.
