Understanding violent extremism – support and resources

Find resources and support services if you are concerned someone you know might be on a pathway towards violent extremism.

Contact police on 000 in an emergency. This includes immediate threats to people or property or if a serious crime is in progress. 

Contact police on 131 444 or in person at your local police station to report crimes that have happened in the past or when police attendance is required. 

Contact the Intervention and Support Program team

If you are worried someone you know might be on a pathway towards violent extremism, help is available. The Intervention and Support Program team is available to listen and help you decide whether the person you are concerned about could benefit from the support of the program.

The Intervention and Support Program team operates from 8am – 4pm Monday to Friday. If you urgently need help, please contact 131 444, or triple zero (000) in case of an emergency. 

Reporting extremist activity

If you are worried that a person you know is planning to carry out an act of violence, you must immediately report this to the WA Police Force by calling 131 444, or triple zero (000) in case of an emergency. 

When to call Triple Zero

Call Triple Zero (000) if:

  • Someone is seriously injured or requires urgent medical assistance.
  • Someone has expressed an intention to harm themselves or others and is planning a violent act.
  • Your life or property is under immediate threat.
  • You have witnessed a serious accident or crime.
  • Someone is threatening self-harm or suicide (you can also consider taking them to a hospital).
