About the plaques program

Plaques are individually tailored to each place and list the State Registered place name and number. A QR code directs the person to more information on the place.

The Heritage Council has recently redesigned the plaques to be more recognisable with other plaque programs. It incorporates an Aboriginal design and acknowledges Country appropriate to where the place is located.

Should you receive a plaque, the Department will work with you to identify where and how the plaque should be affixed.

The plaques are provided free of charge.

How to request a plaque

To register your interest in receiving a plaque, please email the Department and include the place number and a photograph of the  location you wish to have the plaque installed.

Virtual plaques

The Heritage Council also offer virtual plaques, which can be added to email signatures and websites to promote your heritage place through your business or website. Virtual plaques link through to the State Registered place listing in inHerit, our database of heritage places. For more information on the virtual plaques, please email the Department.
