To raise community awareness about the Equal Opportunity Act's grounds of race discrimination and racial harassment, the Commission held an information stall on Murray Street Mall.

WA Commissioner for Equal Opportunity Dr John Byrne said the stall was a great success.

"It is the first time we have held an information stall in the CBD and it worked well because we were able to reach a wide range and number of people," he said.

He said the stall was an effective way of raising awareness not only about the Act and the Commission's work, but also about International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.

"We hope to hold more 'stalls in the mall' for other significant dates throughout the year," Dr Byrne said.
