A recently appointed director general, experienced state solicitor and leading finance executive have been awarded the prestigious Public Service Medal as part of the 2021 Queen’s Birthday Honours List.

The 3 recipients are Nicki Godecke (Director General of the Department of Finance), Kirsten Chivers (Acting Deputy State Solicitor of Western Australia) and Kaylene Gulich (Chief Executive Officer of the Western Australia Treasury Corporation).

Public Sector Commissioner Sharyn O’Neill, who chairs the WA Public Service Medal Committee, congratulated the recipients.

“The medal recognises local, state and federal government employees who have shown outstanding dedication and service to the community through innovation, leadership or achievement,” she said.

“Our 3 medallists have each contributed enormously to the government sector, the community and this state through their service.”

Nicki Godecke is an experienced finance professional who has recently been responsible for implementing significant measures that have delivered over $800 million in new grants, rebates and temporary taxation relief to the community as part of the WA’s recovery plan for the COVID-19 pandemic.

Kirsten Chivers is a highly valued lawyer, working tirelessly for the State Solicitor’s Office COVID-19 team. She has provided time-critical, practice advice during the State of Emergency to protect the interests of the state and community during the pandemic.

Kaylene Gulich is an inspiring leader who has led several key bodies of work in the public sector including sale processes for the government’s land registry and TAB businesses, and functional review of a major service delivery agency.
