Grants of up to $1,500, $3,000 and $10,000 have been announced to support a range of activities and events for young Western Australians during Youth Week WA 2026. The celebrations will kick off with a launch event hosted by the Shire of Capel, marking the start of a vibrant week-long program.
Eligible local governments and community organisations are invited to apply for a share of $125,000 in funding to support events and activities for Youth Week WA 2026, running from 10-16 April.
Youth Week WA is Western Australia’s largest annual celebration of young people aged 10 to 25. The initiative provides an opportunity for young people to connect with their peers and the wider community through a variety of activities designed to engage, inspire and empower.
Grants up to $1,500 are available for eligible organisations to deliver small-scale events for young people in Western Australia such as workshops, pop-up markets and talks. Grants up to $3,000 are available for collaborative, community-wide events such as networking events, community gatherings or a program of small-scale events in Western Australia.
For the first time, grants of up to $10,000 are available to support the delivery of medium-scale events such as conferences, forums, exhibitions, sporting tournaments and festivals.
In 2025, the week-long event saw 40 local governments and community groups share in over $90,000 in grant funding, enabling 70 free activities and events across the State.
Previous grant recipient Shire of Dardanup used their funding to run YouthFest, an event led by young people, for young people. The day consisted of free activities, workshops, market stalls, inflatables, live music, food trucks, activities across the skate park, and more.
Shire of Dardanup’s Place Community Engagement Officer, Will Tuck, said YouthFest 2025 reached new levels of engagement, achieving collaboration across nearly 30 organisations, local businesses, and community members. This aligned with their goal to collaborate with stakeholders led by young people or actively involved with youth initiatives.
“This focus inspired working with youth stallholders, emergency service providers, facilitators, and local youth support services to foster meaningful relationships and encourage broad participation,” said Will.
“With funding support from the Department of Communities, the Shire of Dardanup Youth Advisory Group successfully celebrated the valuable contributions of young people, engaging over 650 participants at their annual event.”
Applications for the 2026 Youth Week WA Grants Program are now open and close at 3.00pm Wednesday 8 October. For more information on eligibility and how to apply, visit the Youth Week WA Grants web page.
